Reverend Timothy D. Dorsey
The Reverend Timothy Daniel Dorsey, the proud son of Lisa V. Dorsey and Timothy D. Alston, was born and raised in the Nation’s Capital, Washington, D.C., graduating with the 2005 class of Eastern Sr. High school. While there at Eastern, Timothy taught himself how to read and play the piano a gift that he is really modest about and was a proud member of the world-renowned Eastern SHS Choir and Army JROTC. It was also at Eastern, that Timothy joined Campbell AME Church under the
leadership of Rev. Dr. Rodger Hall Reed, Sr. Under Dr. Reed’s leadership, Rev. Dorsey accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of 14. Rev. Dorsey felt something different about himself and after several conversations with Dr. Reed, he
understood that God had set him apart for pastoral ministry and preached his trial sermon in September 2005.
At Campbell, Timothy cultivated his knowledge about the different ministries and organizations that make up the AME Church and served as a youth usher, sang in the Youth Choir, the Gospel Choir and the Mass. He has held leadership positions as the Local Young People’s Division President of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Washington Conference Vice President, the Connectional Parliamentarian for the
Richard Allen Young Adult Council and the former President of the Student Government Association at Payne Theological Seminary and member of the Board of Trustees at Payne.
Following graduation from high school, Rev. Dorsey went on to major in Mortuary Science from the University of the District of Columbia, where he obtained his Associates Degree. With education being a priority in his mother’s house, he went on to obtain two degrees from the University of Maryland, a Bachelors of Science in Investigative forensics and a Masters of Management.
